    Invitation to a vigil

    Greetings Miramagicians

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

    Martin Luther King, Jr.

At 8pm (UK time: UTC + 1) on Wednesday 7th June I will be in Memory - and would like you to join me - to spend some time thinking and honouring those people who have lost their lives through violence recently . . London . . .Cameroon . . Kabul . . .among others, just this month . . .

Will you come raise a heart or a candle with me?

I have been sent these pieces of wisdom and would like to share them in preparation for Wednesday's vigil

Michael Leunig; " Love one another and you will be happy. It is as simple and as difficult as that.

    and these song lyrics:

    The Family of Man

    Fred 'Karl' Dallas

The family of Man keeps growing
The family of Man keeps sowing
The seeds of a new life every day

I belong to a family, the biggest on the earth
Ten thousand every day are coming to birth
Our name isn't Davis, Hall, Groves, or Jones
It's a name every man should be proud he owns

I've got a sister in Melbourne, a brother in Paris
The whole wide world is dad and mum to me
Wherever you go you'll find my kin
Whatever the creed or the colour of the skin

The miner in the Rhondda, the coolie in Peking
The men across the ocean who plough, reap and spin
They've got a life and others to share it
So let's bridge the oceans and declare

From the North Pole ice to the snow at the other
There is not a man I wouldn't call brother
But there isn't much time, I've had my fill
Of the men of war who intend to kill

Some people say the world's a horrible place
But it's just as good or bad as the human race
Dirt and misery or health and joy
Man can build or can destroy

    (as sung by The Spinners)

See you on wednesday candles and hearts held high

So many beautiful screen shots, thoughts and quotes!! Thank you for recording the vigil in both words and images for those of that could not attend due to the time difference and working. It is much appreciated! Sending thought, hugs and prayers from Canada for all those around the world suffering from these and other tragedies!

    “When Great Trees Fall

    When great trees fall,
    rocks on distant hills shudder,
    lions hunker down
    in tall grasses,
    and even elephants
    lumber after safety.

    When great trees fall
    in forests,
    small things recoil into silence,
    their senses
    eroded beyond fear.

    When great souls die,
    the air around us becomes
    light, rare, sterile.
    We breathe, briefly.
    Our eyes, briefly,
    see with
    a hurtful clarity.
    Our memory, suddenly sharpened,
    examines,
    gnaws on kind words
    unsaid,
    promised walks
    never taken.

    Great souls die and
    our reality, bound to
    them, takes leave of us.
    Our souls,
    dependent upon their
    nurture,
    now shrink, wizened.
    Our minds, formed
    and informed by their
    radiance,
    fall away.
We are not so much maddened
as reduced to the unutterable ignorance
    of dark, cold
    caves.

    And when great souls die,
    after a period peace blooms,
    slowly and always
    irregularly. Spaces fill
    with a kind of
    soothing electric vibration.
    Our senses, restored, never
to be the same, whisper to us.
    They existed. They existed.
We can be. Be and be
    better. For they existed.”

    ― Maya Angelou

    Hearts and candles

    Miro is feeling sad.

He has visited many of his miramagician friends and heard them weeping. And when his miramagician friends are sad, Miro is sad.

Look at him . . he's no longer the bright red colour we recognise as happy Miro.

How can we put colour back into his wings and his heart?

Miro hears about the vigil in Memory and decides he is going to go along, quietly, and see what it is all about.

    Name: Sad Miro Vigil.jpg
Views: 166
Size: 102.5 KB

And as he watches, and listens a feeling of peace steals over him. He watches the hearts bloom in the mira-sky, and he doesn't feel as alone. He watches the candles burn and flicker, and he knows each flame is a promise, a hope, and he feels a little brighter.

    Name: Sad Miro Vigil 2.jpg
Views: 180
Size: 115.4 KB

And as the hearts bloom and the candles dance his skin takes the love from the hearts and slowly, surely, like raindrops down a window, the colour seeps back into his skin, his wings, his hide, and he slowly feels better.

    Name: Sad Miro Vigil 3.jpg
Views: 180

He reads the words in chat and his eyes fill - not of sorrow now, but of hope, determination and pride. His miramagicians are wise. There is hope. And resolution. Forgiveness.

So, tonight, look up. Maybe you will catch a glimpse of Miro as he sails through the night sky, looking for the helpers, carrying a beacon of hope as he flies with candlelight surrounding him, trailing love as a comet's tail for all.

Such a truthful sentence, fully agree with that. Those who do nothing about it, or do something meaningless, something that doesn't solve the problem but only helps one to calm his or her conscience.
I won't even tell how much sadness every terrorist attack brings to my heart and how many tears to my eyes, because it doesn't help anyone. Huge respect to all those who helped to minimise the damage, rescued people, reanimated victims, and of course to the police.
